Introduction:

The CG-7U3CML is a 7-port Type-C USB3.2 Gen 1 Metal Hub that complies with the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Specifications Revision 3.1 Gen 1 and works up to 5Gbps. It provides 1 USB-C upstream port and 7 USB-C downstream facing ports.

With the RISC-like USB3.2 controller, the CG-7U3CML is backward compatible with any USB3.2/2.0/1.1 devices which connected to its downstream ports.

The CG-7U3CML provides a unique self-powered mode working with a wide range (+7~48V DC) input DC power from its terminal blocks and DC jack connectors. It supports fast USB charging specifications by turning its downstream ports from a Standard Downstream Port (SDP) into a Charging Downstream Port (CDP) or a Dedicated Charging Port (DCP).

Since the USB is the most popular external port for the devices to connect to PCs and mobile devices, the CG-7U3CML provides an ideal solution to expand your USB ports immediately and save your investment.

Fantastic little brick for the modern era
I have about 20 USB devices connected to my computer. 4 can connect to my monitor, but I needed a lot more ports. All my cables are USB-C (to Micro B, Mini B, B, USB-C Device, etc). I try to make sure everything is always USB-C so I don't have any issues. I have a lot of development kits, serial devices, debuggers, lab equipment, and other things connected to my computer. I could barely manage it before, and as I scaled up I needed to make sure power could be delivered fine to all these devices. This is the perfect thing for that.

I highly recommend it if you want to go full USB-C. I could not find any alternatives that offered this many ports at gigabit speeds. The only issue I have is it is a bit pricey, but I am paying hoping that in the future that more vendors will offer things like this.I also like that this can be mounted on a rail. I don't use it that way, but if I ever decide I want to save more space on my table that would be great. I also love the screw-in USB-C cable. It is pretty cool and very secure. All the ports seem to have the ability to be secured in this way, but you only get one cable for this out of the box. I am sure that if this was used in an industrial setup or on the wall of a lab that this would be good to ensure nothing can come out or be stressed from the cable being pulled while on the wall. In any case, I recommend it, just note the price. It is well built. Just make sure if you want to power it that you bring your own DC power supply as it is not included.
