have tried this adapter on two different computers: a new dell running windows 7 and new mac running windows 7 professional in parallels (my machines only work with windows). While the drivers successfully install the rs232 port does not show my machine connected to it. This is the second usb to serial port adapter that hasn't worked for me. the normal old style rs232 works fine. As the other reviews have been glowing, it may be specific to my machine. The adapter is a nicely constructed item that has a professional look and feel to it with what appear to be good quality cables. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to get it to work. I've tried for a total of about 3 hours. That's about my limit for this particular item. If I manage to get it to work I'll update and reevaluate.
