- Thumbs up.

I had to search for new drivers to make this work with Audacity.
Quality Price Value - High Hopes, but unstable and muddy
-
I wish I liked this, but it really didn't work well. The computer frequently wouldn't have audio input or output available. I tried multiple USB ports on the computer, and it made no difference. I'd have to go through the process of rebooting, troubleshooting audio issues, or reinstalling the drivers every 3-4 days (if not more frequently). When I did have audio it was very thin and there was a bit of "digital mud" present in all audio that went through this device.I swapped this with the Sabrent USB External Sound Adapter (item # B00IRVQ0F8) and the audio input/output is clear, stable, and I have had no need to troubleshoot audio issues or reinstall audio drivers. The one downside is that means I only have mono input, but for my use, it's not going to be an issue.
Quality Value Price - Needs Documentation!!
-
Although connection is simple, the documentation is lacking. It would be great to know what the LEDs mean and what the USB power requirements are. The unit did not work when connected to a new laptop. It did work when connected to the laptop via a powered USB hub. It seems that the unit required more power than the laptop USB port was able to supply. It was able to work with a desktop PC without a separate powered USB hub. This is not the fault of the adapter unit but, again, should have been addressed in documentation or specifications. Once we got that sorted, the unit worked very well.
Value Quality Price - Not good for MACS!!!
-
If you plan on using this for a MAC, you have another thing comin'! This works best on Windows. For some reasons, Windows recognizes the line input as a 2nd mic input for some reasons but still functions fine. There are other solutions out there but this one is ok for Windows.

Quality Value Price - Solved problem!

My husband is using this to connect some of his gear--worked perfectly.
Quality Value Price - Tried 3 other devices, THIS one has no noise or distortion. Great for feeding Echo into a computer.

I have returned 2 or 3 other USB "line input" devices already because each one had problems with noise entering into the computer sound system. One time it was a white noise hissing sound, and 2 other times it was static coming in from other electronic devices in the room. I did some research and found out this is a common issue with USB "line input" devices because they do not have enough "shielding" on their cable (the USB cable that connects to the computer). I saw this device and the obvious quality of the cable shielding, and decided to give it a try (I did not want to install a sound card, too much trouble). Bingo! This device has the necessary shielding to prevent crackling and static from entering the system. Worth every penny. There was a hissing (white noise) sound on all but one "Sound Device" properties setting at high volumes. Turns out the DVD quality setting had the least amount of hiss and when the default level setting of 3 is maintained you cannot hear it at all. And believe me, the default level of 3 is exactly where you want the setting anyway. It is LOUD and very clean at that level. This is the best device I have found to feed by Echo and Amazon Unlimited music services into my computer for playback in my office.
